MODULAR MYTHOS In this series, the prescribed use and familiar modes of social interaction surrounding mobile phones are estranged. Smartphone equipped visitors are prompted to search for and display animated loops on their own network-enabled devices, physically arranging and spatially composing their own display screens so as to construct compelling compositions. Although the mediating presence of digital devices is involved in this work, interactivity in this context privileges physical actions-necessitating social interaction and exchange within the immediate presence of the work.

This modular narrative is based on folkloric accounts of “foolish fire,” mysterious flickering lights alleged to appear over swamps, leading travelers astray. Visitors are prompted to search for and display animated components of a visual narrative on their own network-enabled devices, physically arranging their display screens so as to construct a compelling sequence of events.
